Thanks for checking out this blog post! One of the things that I love to do most is to discuss controversial topics…especially the ones that pertain to fashion and style. Ok, so you may be thinking, “What exactly is modesty anyway?” Well, think of if this way. Modesty is a relative term that describes how a woman should present herself in her attire, irrespective of the environment. Some would agree that the concept of modesty is not revealing or trashy. Another point to bear is in mind is that wearing a “modest skirt” is definitely not a one-size-fits-all kind of thing. As a beauty, we are packaged in various colors, sizes, and shapes. In fact, that is what makes us most beautiful as fashionistas…we just have to own it!
So wearing a modest skirt means that the hemline should rest at the ankle level? No…that would be very extreme. I believe that the American costume designer, Edith Head, put it best when she stated, “Your dresses should be tight enough to show that you’re a woman and loose enough to show you’re a lady.” Even though doesn’t address hemlines in her statement, it is still fitting for this particular topic. I also believe that good judgment should be employed when you find yourself in certain environments or events. For example, we know that most places of employment, religious events, and military organizations have dress codes…some may be more strict than others, but that’s beside the point, right? Lol No shade here! I am just stating the facts. Whatever kind of skirt you chose, remember who you are and look fabulous in it!
Quite frankly, modest fashion or styling does have it’s place in the market, but has that warm market turned cold? Modesty goes much deeper than the outward appearance as it is embedded in a woman’s character. Modesty is a lifestyle as well. It is sort of along the same lines as the concept of beauty…which is another relative term. Hence the saying, “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.” Now you may not agree, but honey you have to learn to embrace who you are and where you are. No one else will do that for you. Love yourself and never be afraid to BE yourself. People will always have side remarks about your choice of clothing and style. Remember you are a part of a slaying community of Battle Beauties. My advice today is: Be FIERCE and serve them with hotness! What are you thoughts on modest skirts? Hit up the comments section with your thoughts on this topic. Let’s chat!
