*This post is for midi-skirt lovers only!*
Lol Now that we’ve established that. I am back after a one week blog moratorium…translation: I had a very AWESOME birthday week and lots of family visited. Great food and lots of laughs! It was a blast! We all need that break from our daily grind and hustle to relax and unwind with our loved ones. I had the opportunity to wear one of my sample skirts to a formal family banquet hosted in Mobile, AL. The feedback that I received was off-the-charts! Honestly, I am a huge sucker for the romance appeal when it comes to skirts. While there are some ladies may be infatuated with the complete opposite look…short and flirty. Think of it this way, as women, we are emotional beings…wouldn’t you agree? Then it is safe to say that most of us are intoxicated with romance or the idea of it. Girl, when you think about it, so are men! Men find romance sexy, even though they do not express how they feel about it…they really do! I digress.
Also, I decided to take a poll within the Battle Beauties Fashion Network regarding what skirts are the most flattering irrespective of the wearer’s body type, height, or weight. This controversial question aimed at military women, veterans, and military wives is very instrumental for my fashion design concepts that are forthcoming. There were so many different responses during the group poll! Most ladies liked wrap skirts, A-line skirts, and midi-skirts. I loved reading through all of the responses. BUT! One of the responses that I found most interesting was from a guy that indicated that midi-skirts were the most flattering: loose-fitting, vibrant colors, solids, and printed fabrics. Due to the mixed responses, I decided to test this theory…besides, what better way to get to know your ideal customer? That said, I created a look as a test to observe the type of response that I would receive during my family outing. Lol Yes, I was conducting marketing research…what’s so terrible about that?
Some midi-skirts have hemlines that break at the top of the calf AND then there are midi-skirts have hemlines that fall right at the knee. I created a dreamy romantic look with an white flowy top and a bold printed, and colorful midi-skirt with a hemline that stopped at the top of my calf (see picture of skirt below). I paired the pieces with black pumps that had a gold-dipped toe. Honestly, my wardrobe selection for this event was hasty and I did not realized that I would achieve the response as i was so frustrated with selecting pieces that were fitting for the formal family event.
Needless to say, I believe deep down inside that midi-skirts that break right at the knee are perfect for various women regardless of height, body-type, and weight. There is still that romantic Audrey Hepburn element because you are showing just enough leg to keep the handsome guys guessing! Ok, so what are your thoughts about midi-skirts? Which skirt do you believe is the most flattering? I would love to hear your thoughts! Share this post with your beautiful friend that loves to rock a midi-skirt.
